As we move closer to the second (2025) PCFL seasons, let's think about how we can do better at beating the pesky CPU teams and The Headless Horsemen that coach them this season.
We start the season with 8 active human coached teams (similar to what we had in the XFBS) and 9-10 CPU teams. Last season most of us (me included) lost some games to CPU teams.
We all signed some pretty solid recruits, while the CPU teams were re-constituted to be like they were last season. That should give our teams an edge in roster talent with all those blue chips (4-star and 5-stars players) we signed.
Our other key edge will be in PPPs. Scouting the teams, simming games, etc. the things we normally do while the CPU teams have just 2 PPPs each they can pick from. We have custom plays, new plays, that will be a huge edge too. CPU will be limited to the 128 max plays on each side of the ball they might have loaded in 2 sets of PPP. We have the entire play pool plus anything we can create in the play editor.
WE are going to have full season exclusivity of use of our custom PCFL plays this season. That means CPU teams can't use ANY of those plays until NEXT season. I encourage all to open the play editor and draw up some plays, on offense and defense.
Here are some ideas:
DEFENSE: Offenses are going to be wide open this season. Tennessee obtained some solid WR talent and will be running an all out air raid passing game this season, after last season's offense with all 3-star WRs allowed QB Nico Iamaleava to be the runner up in Heisman voting to Arkansas RB Rashod Dubinion. Prepare for this with some new defenses that will be ready for this. Other teams will also step up their passing games this season, no doubt.
Running: The running games with our slightly better HBs is more robust in the PCFL, making a more dominant or more balanced offense more possible. Design new running plays to exploit this. You have more options in aggressive passing and also in more balanced styles of passing to design new plays to exploit those style. Fire up the play editor and draw up some plays.
Passing plays: Open it up, do stuff that doesn't work in the PNFL that will work here. Test out some new ideas, you never know what will work here until you draw it up and test it. Try out those "more real" play ideas that didn't work in the PNFL because they could be great here.
Be as creative as you want to be. Send me what you have for this season.
30 plays in the off-season. $ OFF and 4 DEF each week during ther 12 weeks of the season. New plays, new variation, please no blatant and obvious clones. You get to be the ONLY team using them for this whole season. Next season every team can use them.

Re: Gaining the edge over the CPU teams
It may help if the CPU PPPs are available to the coaches before the start of the season. This would also give the coaches a "real" team to sim against. Just a thought thanks for considering.
