Nico Iamaleava "transfers" to UCLA

The actual players were not transferred.

The 5-star QB Bruce Thompson, signed by UCLA was renamed Nico Iamaleava.

The senior formerly named Nico Iamaleava, on Tennessee, was renamed to Joey Aguilar, the real life UCLA QB that transferred to Tennessee.

The player ID numbers were switched via export/import in FPEDIT so Nico's stats are now attached to the UCLA QB named Nico Iamaleava.

Joey Aguilar has one season left in both the PCFL and real life, leaving Tennessee with Jake Merklinger and George MacIntyre, in both real life and the PCFL.

This is so cool. Thanks, Dean! Didn’t know we could do that with IDs for the stats.

If everyone is wondering, Nico will indeed redshirt this season. The 3~star QB that I recruited will start except the 4 games Nico gets per our rules. The 3~star QB will be renamed to either Luke Duncan, Demaricus Davis or Henry Hasselbeck depending on which one of them steps up (and stays) for the real UCLA. I will be checking the news a lot in the coming days.

Nico’s brother, Madden Imaleava, returned to UCLA from his very brief time [stealing NIL] at Arkansas so I’m keeping his name for the QB I recruited last season. No change needed there. I thought I was going to need to rename him, but now I don’t need to,

I saw a funny tweet on X. Basically said what if UCLA ends up facing each other in a bowl game or playoff game and they hype up the Nico and Aguilar battle, but both QBs ultimately decide not to play because they are entering the NFL draft.

This tweet got me thinking. Do we need some kind of mechanism in our league to determine if players go pro early? It happens a lot in the NCAA. Maybe some kind of statistical achievement and age along with the dice roll Rich does in the PNFL for physicals.

For example: must have played one full season and finished #1-3 overall in the key stat for their position and fails their dice roll; our dice roll could be harder to survive in the 3rd season than the 1st season; only one player per team faces this so if you had three players finishing #1-3 overall that played a full season only one faces the dice roll

That is an interesting idea...

It will be interesting to follow the whole evolving Nico Iamaleava vs Joey Aguilar story this Fall. Maybe this will be less of a story in the PCFL except that Nico will be playing for UCLA, so that is realistic. Aguilar plays his last season in Tennessee in the form of the former Nico, and then it looks like George MacIntyre wins the jobs for the 2027 season.

The Tennessee defense improved from 2024 to the 2025 season and I am looking forward to it taking another step forward in the 2026 season. James Pearce Jr. graduated but he was replaced with a 5-star DT and a pair of 4-star DEs and 5-star DE Joshua Josephs returns for his senior year.

Regular season games vs Texas and Ohio State will be the big tests this season.
